Where To Take Your Pup in Dog Friendly Coral Gables
Downtown Coral Gables’ friendly pedestrian environment doesn’t just make for a nice walk for humans, it’s extra enjoyable with the companionship of man’s best friend. Bring your dog out for an afternoon in Coral Gables, or stop on your usual walk at these dog-friendly locales along the Downtown area:
On Giralda Avenue, a pedestrian-only street that is lined with restaurants ranging from Vietnamese, poké bowls, burgers and pizza, haute Spanish and healthy juices, you can take a seat and order from the outdoor dining areas that line both sides. Your dog is likely to enjoy the smells wafting over from restaurant row and the people out and about enjoying this comfortable, walkable experience in the middle of the Coral Gables Business Improvement District. Keep an eye out for the seasonal art installations that are strung between from one side of the street to the other; while your dog is unlikely to notice, they make for a fun picture of you and your pet.
Your options don’t end on Giralda, the outdoor dining experience extends along Miracle Mile, where the eateries welcome dogs to sit alongside you and many will provide water to keep your dog’s tail wagging. At Starbucks’ new Miracle Mile location, you can order from the window, a nice way to pick up a nice iced coffee for yourself and a “puppuccino” (whipped cream in an espresso cup) for your dog to scarf down. It’s considered a secret menu item and is free. There’s usually a bowl of water outside the coffee shop as well. On your stroll down Miracle Mile, give them a wave at John Martin’s and they’ll offer your dog a pint – just kidding, but they are known for slipping a treat to a friendly dog.
The covered outdoor terrace at Fritz & Franz Bierhaus makes for the perfect place to sit and enjoy a schnitzel with your pup. Your dog won’t be able to enjoy a cold Bavarian beer but you can! You’ll get extra credit if your dog is a German Shepherd, Daschund, Rottweiler or other German breed.
Stay a while with your four-legged bestie at Hotel Colonnade, a dog friendly hotel where they welcome dogs under 40 pounds. Take a walk from there to the golf course, a uniquely Coral Gables experience located about ten minutes away where dog lovers from around the area walk their dogs with a view of the beautifully manicured course.
At The Cafe at Books & Books you can sip a cappuccino while your pup hydrates with some water they’ll provide in a bowl. Pick up a magazine or a book and enjoy it in their gorgeous ivy covered terrace area where you and your dog can lounge in the shade and do a good bit of people watching. Just across the street at the Coral Gables Art Cinema they’ve screened Reservoir Dogs and Isle of Dogs, but your dog isn’t allowed in with you to catch a film.
Coral Gables’ new plethora of outdoor seating in the Downtown make it the perfect place to dine al fresco with the company of your favorite canine.
