Ocaquatics Opens Swim School in Downtown Coral Gables
Ocaquatics has been teaching South Florida to swim since 1994 and has now brought its expertise to Downtown Coral Gables! The swim school has recently opened its doors at 59 Merrick Way. The new facility has an indoor, warm water pool, offering the perfect environment for all new swimmers.
The mission of Ocaquatics Swim School is to teach families to love swimming and to become safer, more comfortable and more responsible around the water. For that reason, they offer high quality swimming instruction for all ages, infants through school age. Classes are divided into Baby Groups (accompanied by an adult family member); Toddler Groups (children 30-48 months without parent in the pool); Pre-School and School Ages Groups (children ages 4 and up); and Junior Swim Teams (8 children per group will swim 45 feet of freestyle). Tuition fee is based on four classes per month and is $88 for one lesson per week.
So, how does it work? Good question! The immediate goal is that every child can jump into a body of water (or fall in) and return to the wall unassisted. The lessons continue on to extended swimming with rollovers to get a breath. Once a child is ready, the progression continues into stroke development. The classes are taught by friendly, energetic and enthusiastic team members that make completing the swimming goals fun.
You may be asking yourself, “why should I sign up my baby to a swimming lesson?” Well, according to Ocaquatics, statistics continue to indicate that drowning is still the leading cause of death in children under the age of 5 in Florida. Which is why, the school makes it a priority to not only teach swimming, but also to teach tips for the whole family on how to be safer around water.
Ocaquatics is more than a swim school. The business is proud to be a partner of B1G1, a social enterprise and non-profit organization with a mission to create a world that is full of giving. For every swimming lesson taught, they donate one day of water to someone in need. Ocaquatics also partners with CharityWater, a non-profit organization that brings clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries.
Adult lessons are available too! Ocaquatics is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit their website to learn more about the school and sign up for lessons.
